Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021: One Donation, Twice the Impact

Save the date! Our Fundraising Officer Evie Rollinson introduces our plans for this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021.

Save the date!
Our Fundraising Officer, Evie Rollinson, introduces this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge running from 30/11 – 7/12.

The last year has flown by and once again it’s time for Settle to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge! Fresh from the success of last year’s campaign where we were awarded Best Newcomer at the Big Give awards, we’re ready for the UK’s biggest match funding campaign of the year.

Despite the challenges of COVID-19, we worked with 107 young people last year and were beyond pleased that all of them sustained their tenancies and avoided facing the devastating impacts of homelessness. Every penny raised in this campaign will allow us to work with more young people next year, so it’s really important that we can raise money and awareness of Settle’s work.

This campaign has been made possible by our generous match funders: Colin Ellis & Moody’s, Gillie Howarth, Marks Consulting Partners, Martin, Jon and the finance team at Rothschild & Co and Monday Charitable Trust. Thanks to them we have an enormous sum of £7500 in match funds available. That means that for every £10 you donate, we receive £20!

We’ve been busy co-producing our campaign video with some of the fantastic young people we have worked with through the Settle Programme. The video, shot by Tom Edkins, uses our platform so young people can tell their stories directly to our supporters. Keep your eyes out for its release…Christmas-Challenge-Raffle-Rules

The campaign week runs from midday Tuesday 30th November – midday Tuesday 7th December and donations made during this period will be doubled whilst our match funds last. This year we have some really exciting activities planned so you can get involved in person, from the office or from the comfort of your living room.

How to Get Involved

Share our Campaign

A really valuable way to get involved with our campaign is to talk about it to your friends, families, colleagues, and anyone else you can think of! Sharing our campaign, particularly our campaign video and our campaign page (when they go live on 30/11!) on social media or by email is a great option to get involved virtually. To start with, you could sign up to our mailing list (at the bottom of this page) and connect with us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so you don’t miss any important updates.

Try Mindful Meditation

Starting December off blissfully, on Wednesday 1st we are looking forward to an online guided mindful meditation session from international author and wellness coach Gracey Grossmann. At 8pm GMT Gracey will guide us through a 30 minute meditation to enter the festive period with a clear mind and heart. To sign up click here and we ask that participants make a donation to Settle’s campaign.

Join Us For Slow Flow Yoga

Continuing the gentle start to the month, we can’t wait for a soft and grounding flow with Karma Yogi Kirst on Thursday 2nd December, accessible for all levels of practice. At 7pm we’ll be on the mat with Kirsty for a 60 minute online class seeking to relieve physical and emotional tension, the perfect practice to leave you feeling supported and elevated. We’d like to ask participants to make a donation to Settle’s campaign, click here for more info and to sign up!

Go to the Pub

Throughout the campaign week our lovely neighbours at The Dockers Inn are going to be asking customers if they would like to ‘round up’ their orders to make a donation to Settle’s campaign. Tackling youth homelessness from a cosy independent pub serving delicious meals and heartwarming drinks really is a win-win for all. The Settle Team will be taking on their quiz on Tuesday 30th November to kick off the campaign with some community spirit.

Or Do It Your Way!

We are more than happy to offer support to anyone who wants to organise their own fundraiser with donations going towards Settle’s campaign. You could organise a wear a Christmas jumper day or running a 10k or even a bake sale. Last year it was hard to organise traditional fundraising activities, but with all that time indoors baking banana bread, now could be the time to showcase your skills. Any money raised will need to be donated through our campaign page from 30/11 – 7/12 before the page closes.

Enter our Raffle

We have a great selection of prizes shaping up for Settle’s first ever raffle! From vouchers to dine in central London restaurants and handmade jewellery to gift vouchers for Jamie Oliver’s cookery school and immersive mystery games, there’s something for everyone.

Prizes up for grabs include:

To enter, simply donate £10 or more to Settle’s campaign. Each £10 donation counts as one entry, so a £50 donation would be 5 raffle entries.

If you would like to donate but not be entered into the raffle please email evie.rollinson@wearesettle.org to be removed from the ballot. We will assign a number to each entry and the winners will be randomly chosen and announced after the campaign. Good luck!

Read our full raffle rules here.

All money raised in the Big Give Christmas Challenge will go towards supporting even more young people at risk of facing homelessness next year. If you’d like to get in touch with an idea or a question, I’d love to hear from you at evie.rollinson@wearesettle.org.
